Sooooo...YUCK!

When I go home for a couple of weeks to visit Norman, I have decided that since we won't have to pay for a sitter, we are going ALL out (hear me Norman??) on a date night. Nice, elegant restaurant... dressing up in a suit for him and a new dress for me... *sigh* Well, I've been searching for the perfect atmosphere...and I found it. The perfect atmosphere that is...

Looks great right? It's actually one of the top restaurants in the nation. So I was getting all excited...Then I looked at the menu...

Here is a sampling of the first course...

Beet Fantasia: Three Varieties of Roasted Beets, Beet Mousse and Citrus Salsa

A Tin of Sin: American Ossetra Caviar with a Crab and Cucumber Rillette

Carpaccio of Herb Crusted Baby Lamb with Tabouli and Rosemary Mustard

Poached Duck Egg in Oxtail Consomme with Porcini Mushrooms and Shaved Burgundy Truffle

A Melange of Spicy Big Eye Tuna with Mango, Avocado, Crispy Shallots and Sake-Yuzu Sorbet

A Marriage of Hot and Cold Foie Gras with Ice Wine Jelly and Grilled Black Mission Figs

Okay, can I not get the atmosphere...the dress...the nice ambiance...AND grilled chicken or something...EDIBLE? Seriously... No matter where I go, no matter how elegant Foie Gras sounds, fatty liver of goose is just not my cup of tea. Forget it. YUCK.

  1. As much as I love dressing up and going out, I've determined I just don't have the fancy palette to go along with it. Why can't nice restaurants have normal food?

  2. Why is it that the rich have such weird taste budds?! My bet is that they don't even like the stuff but since it's "fancy-soundin'" they eat it anyway. : )

  4. I agree, that sounds gross to me too. Hope you find somewhere decent that serves "regular" food.
