Friends, the Easter Bunny and Autism Awareness

Oh where oh where would I be without my friends?  Well, I can tell you for sure that today I would have a son who still had a (please don’t look at me, my mommy cut my hair) look.  Thanks to my sweet friend Melinda, my eyes have been opened to the world of kiddie haircut places.   We found one today down in Springfield called Cartoon Cuts, and it was FABULOUS!  He did so great, sat sooooo still, and was the perfect little client! He was mesmerized by watching the Wiggles dance, and before we knew it, he was looking like a BOY again!  Thank you Cartoon Cuts! And thank you Melinda for making my world so much easier…one snip at a time!

From there, we decided that even though we are missing our sweet boy Eli, we would go ahead and have Chase take his picture with the Easter Bunny.  I had not planned on doing this or he would have been dressed in his good Easter clothes…the kind suitable for taking pictures in.  But I kept thinking “tomorrow at the Easter Egg Hunt…”.  Well, it hit me as we were face to face with that bunny that if tomorrow gets rained out, then that will be the only bunny he’ll get to see.  So we decided to play it safe and go ahead and get the picture.

Well, it went well walking up to the bunny.  Chaser kept saying “bunny…bunny….bunny” and then I went to pet the bunny (I’m sure the guy in the suit was very impressed with my animal skills) to show Chase that there was nothing to be afraid of.  Well, he decided he was scared, and started crying – really loudly  in his sweet little boy sing-songy voice, “NO BUNNY! NO BUNNY”  Well, it was cute, but he wasn’t going to take that picture alone…so we made a compromise…

Here is the pic a bit zoomed…sorry bunny, you got cropped!

At least we got the picture.  Next year I hope and pray that there are all 4 of us in the picture…You are missed sweet Eli…come home soon…

Note:  If you want to catch up and/or don’t know what is going on with Eli, you can catch up here.  I also have a private blog for him that I open up for anyone who would like to understand more about Autism and how it affects every single aspect of life.

I also want to let everyone know that April is Autism Awareness Month, and I will be writing a post in the next couple of days giving some statistics and information.  If anyone has any questions about autism and how it relates to family life, or anything about life in general when you have a child on the spectrum, I invite you to ask away.  I will be answering the questions in the upcoming blog, so ask away!

  1. Those kid haircut places are genius! Some even put them in little "cars" for the haircut. I so should have thought of that :)

  5. Awwww- the photos of you guys with the Easter bunny are so cute and yet so sad too - I know you would have really enjoyed having Eli there as well. But good for you supermom in making sure that Chase's life is affected as little as possible!!

Glad you were able to find a kiddie cut place. Aren't they the best? Who knew getting a kids haircut could be so stress free?!?!?!
