A Gift For The Troops

On Saturday night we had the privilege of going to a concert that was put on by the USO.  I am signed up to a metro-DC USO newsletter, and they announce concerts, programs, gift box donations  to send to the troops overseas, etc.  This concert was Montgomery Gentry, Lee Ann Womack, and Phil Vassar, and they had allotted a certain number of free tickets to military…and we got 4 of them!  These were not cheap tickets either, and we were so blessed to be able to go.

But I guess the reason that I find it 'blog-worthy’ is the fact that the entire time was spent focused on and thanking our troops.  Two of our heroes were awarded their Purple Hearts, and the announcers were a retired LTC and Harriet from JAG.  They showed clips of soldiers, lots of pictures taken from overseas, and of course they sang lots of good ole country songs that make you want to cry your heart out in thanks to the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.

I never had this amount of patriotism until I met Norman, and I am so thankful that I see now what the cost was and STILL IS to make this country what it is.  Thank you to the USO for supporting our troops…for supporting the families…And a big thank you to all those who support the USO so that they can do what they do for our military.  He are a few pictures from our evening…

And then at the end of the night, the boys just couldn’t hang with the big peeps… (FYI the earplugs worked wonders for Eli being able to enjoy the concert. Things are overly loud to him, so this made it possible for him to go.  And since Chase wanted to be like Eli, he didn’t fight us when we put them on him; it was waaaay too loud and waaaay too damaging for their little ears to have not protected them…)

USO13 USO14 Thank you to our military for doing what you do…you are thanked so little for the sacrifices you make, and your families are overlooked as well.  All my military wives friends…you are my heroes and strength; I thank GOD for you!!!
